Guide published on Green Deal commercial opportunities
Article

Construction firms need to start preparations in order to make the most of commercial opportunities presented by the government’s Green Deal, according to a new guidance document.
The publication, Green Deal Opportunities for Industry, has been published jointly by the Construction Products Association and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes.

Aimed at manufacturers, distributors, contractors and installers, it outlines the opportunities available for industry when the Green Deal is introduced later this year.

The document said: “Perhaps the biggest shift in the market will be the move from selling a product to selling a service or package.

“A combination of assessment, finance, measures and customer protection will have to be communicated to potential customers.”

And it added that some retrofit firms, architects and installation companies are already making a transition in the way they communicate with potential customers.

CPA industry affairs director John Tebbit said: “Although it is early days within the Green Deal, which is still under consultation, the framework is now established.

“So despite the fact that some working details may change, now is the time for those companies that are interested in the potential opportunities of Green Deal to begin to investigate how they should prepare and what they need to be aware of.”
