Essentials of Health and Safety

This one day interactive course is intended for construction business owners and managers with the aim of recognising the human, economical and financial implications of noncompliance with health and safety legislation. The course will provide a summary of how to promote a positive health and safety culture within their organisation.

Course aimed at: Business owner’s /managers/ supervisors.

Course Content

  • Understanding the key requirements of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015
  • Recognise the moral economical economic and legal costs/implications of decisions made in the boardroom that make their business liable
  • Understand the importance of strategic management of risks
  • Appreciate the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively
  • Recognise the need to appoint competent health and safety assistance and the limitations of such an appointment
  • Identify the basic tools for introducing a proactive health and safety culture into their organisation

CITB Health and Safety Awareness

This course is the first step towards a CSCS Labourers Card (Green Card) and to the progressive CITB Site Safety Plus suite of courses that range from training for operatives into the industry up to senior manager / director.

Basic Ladder Safety Awareness

This course is intended for those who are expected to inspect, use and manage the safe use of ladders during the course of their work. The course will help to train operatives, supervisors and management in the knowledge and skills required to identify the correct ladders and to safely use ladders in the workplace.

Course aimed at: All employees within the construction sector (managers/operatives)

  • The current legislative framework placing duties upon employers/employees
  • Reference to the ladder accident statistics
  • The importance of safe working procedures
  • The selection of the right access equipment for the task
  • The ability to inspect, prior to use, and identify common defects, plus reporting procedures
  • Safe use of ladders and the benefits of levelling/stabilising devices
  • The current legislative framework placing duties upon employers/employees

Working at Height Course - 1 day

This course has been designed to give operatives and managers the required knowledge in issues associated with working at height. It is designed to give an understanding of the principles to be adopted to ensure compliance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Course aimed at: All employees within the construction sector (managers/operatives)

  • Safe access and egress to both guarded and unguarded roof tops

CIEH Principles of Risk Assessment Level 2 Award - 1 day

This qualification is designed for anyone in a work environment, particularly those who are likely to be responsible for, or contribute to carrying out risk assessments. This course will help to improve the workplace culture for occupational health and safety by enabling learners to understand the basic principles of risk assessment and to become more risk aware in their day to day work.

Course aimed at: Business owner’s /managers/ supervisors within the construction sector

  • Ability to contribute both to the maintenance of a safe work environment and to the process of formal risk assessment
  • Understanding the legal requirements for risk assessment
  • Understanding the principles of risk assessment including:
  • Hazards, risks and control measures/ The five steps of risk assessment
  • The hierarchy of control/ Risk assessment review and record keeping.

CIEH certificate in Principles of Risk Assessment Level 2 Award valid for three years will be awarded on completion of course.
