The FMB Coronation Cup, donated to the best first-year carpentry apprentice at Richmond Upon Thames College, was presented at a dual celebration.
The college officially opened its new Brickwork Centre, part of its expansion of brick working courses, at its annual awards ceremony. Students had created an entrance arch inside a week to launch the opening of the centre.
As well as brickwork, the college provides courses in plumbing, carpentry, site and bench joinery, and painting and decorating.
The FMB Coronation Cup, donated by Richmond branch, went to Letitia Campous-Lennon. Vic Gardener, co-ordinator for carpentry and joinery, described Letitia as "an excellent joiner and a joy to have on the course". As well as excelling in carpentry, she has been active within the college, playing for the girls' five-a-side team. Letitia was prevented from claiming her award by a tree brought down in a storm as she journeyed to college.
