FMB route to certification

The FMB is offering a route to certification and registrations services as part of its ‘complete solution’ service to FMB member companies who are committed to delivering the highest standards of customer service and workmanship in the building industry.

The FMB offers members a route to Green Deal (Energy Efficiency Measure) Installer Certification and Microgeneration (MCS) Installer Certification through a service agreement with NAPIT (a UKAS accredited certification body for Green Deal and MCS certification) including access to Competent Person Scheme Registration.

Requirements

Requirements to achieve certification or registration vary from scheme to scheme. Typically companies will need to demonstrate:

  • The skills, knowledge and practical competence to supply, design (or evaluate a design), install and hand over the type of measure or technology for which they are seeking approval.
     
  • An appropriate management system for controlling quoting, purchasing, invoicing, complaints management, quality checking and record keeping.
     
  • Good working practices for consumer protection, including compliance with any required Consumer Code of Practice.


Common Minimum Technical Competences
To identify the competence requirements, businesses will need to refer to the relevant Common Minimum Technical Competence (CMTC) annexes for each scheme.
