NEARER TO ZERO - NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND CONFERENCE

'Manchester will host a Nearer to Zero event, on the 25th. April 2012. This is a one day conference for planners and house builders who wish to hear the latest developments to Governments Policies in relation to the journey to Zero Carbon Homes.

The Nearer to Zero event is a collaboration between the Zero Carbon Hub and the Home Builders Federation with the support of DCLG to build consensus between the planning profession and the house building industry on the challenges of delivering zero carbon new housing. Nearer to Zero focuses on the technical, financial and regulatory issues of zero carbon housing and poses the question: how can planners and house builders work more closely together to rise to the challenge of zero carbon new homes?

Speakers include Andrew Stunell OBE MP together with key speakers from senior positions in government, the house building industry and local authority planning and who will be addressing the following questions:

• What is the definition of a zero carbon home and how is this is to be achieved?
• What is the current understanding of costs and viability on deliverability of zero carbon homes?
• How will planning reform impact on local development policy?
• What are the roles of local authorities in assisting delivery within the new localism landscape?

With 2016 just a little over four years away, the focus will be firmly on the steps that need to be taken now to ensure delivery of more sustainable housing in Yorkshire and Humberside.
