Crafty extension for "Arts & Crafts" home

Exterior shot of the house

This Edwardian property was extended to create a kitchen/family living space for a family of six. To remain in-keeping with the Arts & Crafts style of the original house, the extension has high vaulted oak-beamed ceilings and elegant oak flooring throughout.

Outside, a projecting dormer gable covers part of the new terrace area, which is surrounded by a wall built from stone quarried from the garden when the foundation trenches were dug out!

With four young children on site, safety was a high priority for both customer and builder. On a major project like this, there is bound to be some disruption to family life, but the builder ensured there was a serviceable kitchen at the end of everyday and screened the building area to keep as much dirt as possible out of the house.
