Lofty ambitions

a loft conversion in Wimbledon

There are loft conversions, and then there are loft conversions. In this case the end result is spectacularly eye-catching. Velux windows and glazed doors let light flood into the master bedroom, and a wall of blue frosted glass bricks separates the ensuite bathroom. This contrasts with the white plastered and exposed brickwork walls of the bedroom, which also features a hard wood floor, sound-proofed of course. The contemporary minimalist design extends to the lighting. No need for bedside lamps here, as uplighter spotlights have been fitted in the floor by the bed. The builder's professionalism and attitude earned the highest praise, from dealing with the planning permission and suggesting many unusual and innovative ideas to working late to stay on schedule, nothing was too much trouble.

What the customer said:

"We are overwhelmed with our conversion. Seeing is believing how good it is." Mrs M Smith

What the Master Builder of the Year judges said:

"The whole project is very special, almost every aspect has been turned into a feature."
