Replacing a Devon bungalow with a green-oak framed house

Exterior shot of the house

This beautiful home was created using a green oak frame manufactured by Carpentry Hall Oak and all building work was carried out by AJ Proctor Builders Ltd.

Timber was used as the frame, the structure, the cladding and decking. The ground floor was clad in sparkling Chinese Fossil Stone giving a brilliant effect to contrast with the exposed timber throughout.

What the customer said:

"This was the first 'Green Oak' project carried out by this firm so they managed it as if it was a new baby and they are all very proud of the end result."

What the Master Builder of the Year judges said:

"This house is a most unusual, visually attractive timber building, which is very ecological, set in the Devon countryside. It is a fine example of a local builder managing a new type of project for the first time in a very successful manner, demonstrating the capabilities of a Master Builder."
