21st Century makeover for a 19th Century home

21st Century makeover

A sympathetic restoration has brought a derelict house back to life as a 21st century home.

The house has been transformed with painstaking attention to detail. An 'invisible' upgrade to provide modern facilities includes new central heating, plumbing and electrical systems throughout, as well as a new water supply system complete with pump, filter and UV light purification in the cellar.

The traditional exterior of the building has been preserved through careful refurbishment of the stonework and chimney stacks. Internally, original features such as doors and skirting have been saved while the floors have been cleaned and polished. A new wrought iron handrail crafted locally was fitted to the double spiral staircase, completing the restoration.
