0844 Numbers - Information for FMB Members

0844 numbers are all about helping you measure the value of your FMB membership.

 

HOW IT WORKS

  • All members whose details appear in the FMB ‘Find a Builder’ service have been assigned 0844 numbers.
    These numbers will appear on the Find a Builder search results page, so that potential clients can call you directly.

  • The 0844 number connects directly to your landline number.

  • Potential clients will continue to be able to request a member list with full contact details of all the members they have selected - including regular landline numbers.

  • When you receive a call on your 0844 number from a potential client, you will first hear the message: “This call is from a person who used FMB Find a Builder services”. This is to help you identify telephone leads that come from the FMB.

  • If the line is busy we will send you a ‘missed call’ email, so that you can call the potential client back.

  • You will continue to receive job leads by email or FAX when clients choose to request a member list instead of calling.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT 0844 NUMBERS

  • The calls only cost 5p per minute from a BT landline.  FMB is not making money from these calls.

  • We can only route your 0844 number to a UK landline (numbers starting 01 or 02).

  • We cannot route calls to mobiles because of the mobile operator charges.

  • If you use an answer service, please make sure that your message is longer than 8 seconds.

  • To receive missed call email alerts, we must have your email address.

 

Please note that if you call your 0844 number from your landline – you will will obviously get an engaged tone!

If there is no 0844 number showing on Find a Builder for your company -

 

1. For new members

As long as you have provided us with a landline starting with 01 or 02*, your number is being created and will be shown online within 7 days.

 

2. For existing members

We could not create an 0844 number for you because we do not hold an 01 or 02 landline number on record.  We can only route calls to geographic landlines, not mobiles or other non-geographic numbers. 

 

To activate your 0844 number, please login using your membership number and postcode, then:

 

  • Click on 'My Details'
  • Complete the 'Landline for 0844 number' field
  • Click Submit

 

We will update your record, route an 0844 number to this line and display it on Find a Builder.  Please allow 7-10 days for this to show online.  Alternatively, you can update your record by calling Operations on 020 7092 3800.

 

 

* if you did not give us an 01 or 02 number when you signed up, please follow the steps in '2. For existing members'.
