Building Regulations Competent Person Scheme Registration

Competent Person Scheme registration will save your business time and money and enable you to self-certify that your work complies with the building regulations.

Companies that are registered with an authorised Competent Persons Schemes can self-certify that the work has been undertaken in accordance with the Building Regulations (England and Wales) without them or their customers having to notify Building Control in advance or pay Building Control fees associated with the installation. Companies can only self-certify for the type of work they have registered for.

  • Insulation of walls, roofs, floors
  • Installation of replacement windows, doors, roof windows or roof lights
  • Replacement of roof coverings on pitched and flat roofs
  • Heating system and condensing boiler installation work
  • Ventilation system work 
  • Installation of heat producing microgeneration technologies 
  • Installation of electricity producing microgeneration technologies
  • Installation of micro-combined heat and power systems 
  • Electrical installation work 
  • Lighting fittings and lighting controls

* Approval for authorisation to operate a Building Regulations Competent Person Scheme registration for this type of work has been applied for but the ability to offer registration is dependent on the outcome of the application and the necessary update to the Building Regulations being made in January 2013.   Where assessment has been carried out in relation to Green Deal Installer/PAS2030  certification prior to January 2013, those companies who are seeking Competent Person Scheme registration for these types of work will be added to the relevant Competent Person Register without the need for further application, fee or assessment.
