Energy Saving Week (24th-30th October) was launched with an advertising campaign worth £5 million. Based on extensive research conducted by the Energy Saving Trust, the campaign is designed to raise awareness of climate change, as well as increase the demand for energy saving measures and products. This research shows that consumer demand for energy saving choices is increasing, with 80% of consumers willing to invest in energy efficient measures.
What does this mean for you?
- Energy Saving Week activity is aimed at inspiring consumers to transform their energy saving intentions into positive action.
You can take advantage of the raised awareness and benefit from increased consumer demand for energy efficient measures generated by the campaign, thus increasing your sales opportunities.
The 'Save your 20%' call to action was developed to demonstrate how individuals can help to combat climate change. It is important for consumers to know that every time they make an energy efficient choice, they contribute towards the UK government's target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 20% by 2010.
The campaign will run until March 2006, and your clients will see the campaign across TV, press, direct marketing and the web. There will also be a considerable PR drive targeting key journalists.
In addition, the Energy Saving Trust will be highlighting action that industry needs to undertake to help customers save their 20%. With research showing that 45% of consumers would pay £5-£10,000 more for a home built to very high environmental standards, and when refurbishing their home, 64% agreeing they would follow the advice of contractors and installers about the best ways of making it energy efficient, you can improve your competitive advantage by demonstrating how you can help your clients save energy.
