Master Builder of the Year - Building the bond of trust
Builders virtually live in your home for months on end and as such become part of family life, so the bond of trust between a builder and a client is vital to the success of the project.
The Master Builder of the Year 2008 is a wonderful example of a builder who not only excels at building that trust, but also retains it for years after.
This year’s winning builder has not only produced an amazing transformation, turning a run of the mill 1960s house into a stunning, light-filled contemporary family home, but has also built a bond of trust with his client, which will secure referrals and new business for many years to come.
Leicester builder Kevin Ellis and his team from Ellis & Hughes, worked in complete partnership with clients Elaine and Patrick Mulvihill, sharing their vision for their family home in Newton Linford, Leicestershire.

The consideration and adaptability shown by Ellis & Hughes turned a potentially stressful period into an enjoyable one for the family. The team were friendly, professional and approachable throughout and potential conflicts were avoided by their willingness to talk through issues.
Patrick Mulvihill said: “Every family in the country can relate to our example – a typical family living in a pleasant but uninspiring house who have aspirations of creating a dream home. All we needed was a great builder to make it happen. Ellis & Hughes listened to our wish list and worked with us and the local community to produce and execute a stunning design, completing the scheme on time, on budget, and with the greatest respect for both ourselves and our neighbours. Our family love this house, and that’s why we are delighted that Ellis & Hughes is Master Builder of the Year."
