The FMB Find A Builder website has been engineered to provide YOU with job leads, by matching consumer enquiries with an FMB builder in their area. We knew it was good, and this story demonstrates just how good it gets... unless you know better?
FINDING A BUILDER
A homeowner had recently moved into a property in Manchester and was looking for a builder to completely renovate their large Victorian semi, including a two-story extension to the back. The homeowner had spoken to numerous local builders, but was disappointed saying that: “No one understood what we wanted and didn’t seem to want to spend the time finding out”.
So they then visited the FMB Find A Builder website to look for more builders in their area and found North West FMB member, Bury based MAF Design and Build. They uploaded details of their project and these were picked up by MAF’s Chris Maffei. Not one to let the grass grow, Chris and his wife (and fellow Director) Liz made an appointment to meet the potential client on site to see exactly what the project entailed. Three days later Chris sent his estimate, along with addresses of previous, similar work his company had undertaken which the new clients were welcome to visit. Another three days went by and the client rang Chris to award the contract worth around £100,000.
As this issue of Master Builder was going to press, Chris was downloading a free FMB contract to cover the works prior to starting the job. The job is expected to take 12 weeks and will follow designs drawn up by MAF to include in addition to the extension, two new bathrooms and a new kitchen.

We give every member a standard profile page on (and this is where you can influence a consumer’s choice) it’s up to YOU to keep your pages updated with new projects and for YOU to show off your skills. You want the work – so make sure you get it. Updating your own page on the FMB website will deliver real benefits for your business. What you add to your profile will be picked up by search engines, increasing your visibility on the web and making it easier for consumers to find you.
The FMB generates thousands of job leads for members every month and all you have to do is follow these instructions to update your profile and it’s done – until the next time you finish a project you’d like to feature. If a potential customer searches for you on a search engine (like Google), this will highlight your membership of the FMB and let them contact you through Find A Builder.
All you have to do is login at www.fmb.org.uk/fmb-member-login and click on the Find A Builder tab. From there you can access your enhanced record and add:
