WHAT DRIVES THE 10TH MASTER BUILDER OF THE YEAR

This year’s Master Builder of the Year, David Charleton of FJ Charleton Building Contracts Ltd from Ballymartin, County Down has just driven away in his prize - a brand new Nissan Navara.

Scotts on the Rocks by FJ Charleton Building Contracts Ltd is a dream cliff-top home on the East Coast of Northern Ireland

Earlier this year, FMB member FJ Charleton Building Contracts Ltd was awarded the prestigious title ‘Master Builder of the Year’ by Phil Spencer of Channel 4 ‘Location, Location, Location’ at an awards ceremony in London - the first time in the 10 year history of the awards that the winning builder has come from Northern Ireland and it also the first time that the winner of the new build category won the top prize.

They won the award for the amazing ‘Scotts on the Rocks’ and in doing so won a brand new Nissan Light Commercial vehicle of their choice, worth up to £20,000, provided by the principal partner of the Awards, Nissan.

NISSAN MAKES A DIFFERENCE

On Tuesday 26 July, David and Alan Charleton picked up the keys to their brand new Nissan Navara from their local dealer, Donnelly & Taggart. David said: “When I was named as Master Builder of the Year I was in shock! I’m so proud of my team, Scotts on the Rocks is a lovely home and it was great working with the clients, I was so delighted when they nominated us. But to win was unbelievable. The new Nissan is superb; it will really make a difference to my working life.”

In creating “Scotts on the Rocks” David was asked to build a contemporary house that could be used either as a single–storey home or opened up, using the second level, to create a larger home for entertaining family and friends. As well as this, David diverted two natural springs by the home to create a freshwater swimming pool next to the sea.
