Hayley Fry - FMB Head of Training

Having the right training and accreditation is becoming more and more important in the construction world so we have set up FMB Training Services Limited to help give members the edge in a competitive market.

FMB’s new ‘Online+’ course is a distance learning option designed for small builders. It gives you essential management skills and expert one-to-one coaching, in a groundbreaking new format which saves you time and money. As well as achieving a valuable NVQ-5 Management Diploma (recognised route to the CSCS black Manager’s card), the course also helps develop a range of skills:

  • Planning
  • Leadership and communications
  • Managing change
  • Working productively
  • Health & Safety responsibilities
  • Planning learning and development.

All of which helps you move your business forward and professionalise what you do. The course costs just £200+VAT for FMB members, thanks to generous funding from ConstructionSkills, and takes approximately seven months to complete. This is suitable for office and site managers working within your business, as well as directors/owners.

Be among the first to benefit from this new training course now! There are still places available to join this course which starts on 23 April 2012: please email: training@fmb.org.uk for more information or to book, or visit the FMB Training pages.

WOMEN LEADERS IN CONSTRUCTION

Women Leaders in Construction

FMB’s third ‘Women Leaders in Construction’ course will begin in Edinburgh on 3 May 2012. If you’re a woman working in a management role for an FMB member firm, or indeed running your own business, then you could really benefit from this course, which leads to an ILM Level 7 Diploma. As well as developing communications skills, the course helps to grow women’s’ confidence in dealing with business situations including motivating employees and handling clients, especially the difficult ones!

We have already run two courses for Women in London, and here is a testimonial from one of the women attending:

“The course provides an opportunity to spend time reflecting on your business and your role in it, in order to focus on the things that matter. It is useful to have time to think about the way you lead. I have already started to make changes to the way I work and set myself new goals. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to gain confidence and fulfill their potential as well as have time and space to think about where they want their company to go and how to get there.”

There are still places available to join this course, please email training@fmb.org.uk for more information or to book, or visit the FMB Training pages.
