Held at the Burlington Hotel, guests dressed to dazzle for the black tie event. The night was a musical extravaganza from start to finish. Acocks Green Gospel Choir set the tone with their joyous singing. During dinner guests were serenaded by Koster a delightful, accomplished accordionist. Chairman, Peter McHugh, made a short speech (by his standards) and thanked everyone for attending and supporting us since the branch reformed three years ago. President Ann Grainger was presented with an ‘Oscar’ for achievements in fundraising.
‘Music of the Night’ cabaret show took to the stage with their brilliant performance of songs from West End to Broadway hit musicals. In the spirit of the evening they greatly reduced their fee to kick-start our new fund-raising campaign. The raffle and auction, expertly conducted by Bob Martin, raised several hundred pounds. The disco filled the floor with party people dancing the night away. (Corporate Entertainment also reduced their fee to swell our funds) The usual suspects boogied, bopped and smooched till 2am. Time for a quick nightcap in the bar and then off to bed. Another great night, how will we top that next year? Master of Ceremonies Brian Johnson already has some ideas!
