The FMB has been working alongside Insurance Broker Aon and specialist Legal Expenses Insurer DAS, to develop a new insurance benefit for members.
The current economic climate is increasing everyone’s awareness of their legal rights and giving rise to more disputes for businesses to overcome. This new Legal Expenses Insurance will offer support for certain types of dispute which arise in the following areas:

Employment - Disputes with employees over unfair dismissals, redundancy, contract terms, statutory rights, etc.

Legal Defence - Defence of criminal proceedings against the business and dealings with the Health & Safety Executive

Property - Pursuit of third parties over damage to property or in relation to trespass and nuisance matters

Tax Protection - Representing you in HMRC investigations

Licenses - Appealing against the relevant authorities to reinstate any statutory licences you need in order to run your business

Adjudication - Paying the costs awarded against you by the RICS up to £1,100 in line with the capped fees levied by RICS for the FMB Adjudication procedure

Enforcement - Enforcing the RICS judgment should your customer refuse to accept their decision - up to a maximum of £100,000.
