Building Reputations is an award-winning residential construction company providing design and building services for private clients throughout Kent and accredited with leading industry bodies including the NHBC, FMB, CSH and the NRWB and Trustmark schemes. We specialise in the creation of new-build homes and extensions, whether appointed to provide a full ‘Design and Build’ service or as ‘build-only’ contractors. Our portfolio spans single-storey extensions through to small developments of new homes and from shell-only construction to ‘turn-key’ completion.

With former careers in some of the most respected residential development and commercial construction companies, we deliver a unique combination of intelligent design flair with practical and cost-effective building solutions. Moreover, our investment in people and systems means we deliver a unique client experience that is unlike any of our competitors and is in part reflected by us being ‘Highly Commended’ in the FMB Master Builder of the Year 2010 Awards for ‘Medium Renovations’ (period property extension) and ‘Large Renovations’ (extension) categories.

Whatever the assignment, we are committed to delivering the highest possible standards of design, customer service, build quality and after-sales care - as evidenced by the quality of our client and professional testimonials within this site.

Case Study 1

Construction of a Five Bedroom Chalet-Bungalow

This project was a Design and Build package commissioned by our sister developer company – Solinparc. The site was acquired with planning permission and we then developed an enlarged design and successfully obtained planning permission for a 5-bedroom chalet-bungalow which we then built.

Architecturally, the design was refined to include reclaimed bricks in order to soften the appearance of the building as well as using club tiles to the gable ends and lead dressings to the windows. The garage then mirrored the same design and a high-quality black composite door with chrome furniture was chosen to create a striking first impression.

Internally, the property features granite worktops, concealed cisterns, a flue-less gas fire pre-wiring for home entertainment and automation and engineered Walnut flooring to the entrance hallway. We achieved a Code For Sustainable Homes Level 3 rating through the incorporation of an air-source heat pump and flue-less fire as part of the specification.

That the site sold on the second viewing for virtually full asking price is indicative of the quality of build achieved.

Case Study 2

Two Storey & Single Storey Extensions to a Period Property

This project, a former gate-house built in the 1800’s began life in an unusual way when we identified that the approved planning permission did not in fact meet planning or building control regulatory requirements. As such, our first task was to re-design the scheme and obtain the correct consents to enable commencement of build.

During the early phase of the works, we were able to create an ‘Undercroft’ space which is presently used as storage but may later be converted to further habitable accommodation. Other key activities included the demolition of the existing attached buildings, construction of the single-storey master bedroom suite to the rear, a two-storey extension to the side and a full renovation of the existing first floor of the house. Finally, the front was re-landscaped to form an in-out driveway with surfaces matching those on the original half of the drive.
