Renovation of split level maisonette including structural alterations underpinning and all 1st and 2nd fix.
The Brief:
The client's family home wasn't big enough for their increasing family size. Not wanting to move we were contacted to maximize their living space.
The Job:
With no room to move sideways or upstairs we realised the best use of space was to go down and create a basement. This job consisted of diging a large basement area, underpinning the existing building and 1st and 2nd fixing to provide bedrooms for the new additions to the family. The early stages of this project included consultation with our architects and engineers to provide a solution that the local planning department would be happy with.
Once planning was approved we got to work. With the dig completed and the building underpinned we moved on to providing the wiring and plumbing required. Next we installed a staircase, flooring, bathrooms, kitchen and windows before painting and decorating and adding the finishing touches. We even fitted a stained glass window! The duration of this job was 4 months.
The Result:
What had begun as a cramped family home was transformed into a spacious maisonette with ample living space. The clients were particularly impressed by the head height and light that the basement provided.
