Bespoke Kitchen

The Brief

Our client was slowly transforming this top floor apartment into a light open plan living space.

The new kitchen needed to provide a home for everything to keep things out of sight and tie in with his walnut and white theme running throughout the room and newly purchased walnut flooring. We also needed to provide a place for casual dining which could double up as a place to work on a laptop...

The Solution

The design was carefully thought out to conceal all of the appliances except for the oven and hob so that from the lounge and dining areas the kitchen appeared very “furniture” like rather than obviously “kitchen” space. Specialised accessories gave easy access to the food store and the difficult corner area. The rubbish was concealed in a pullout recycling bin and a waste disposal was installed to avoid food rubbish smells in the open plan room.

We chose an extremely quiet dishwasher and extractor so that dining and television watching wouldn’t be interrupted. The walnut veneer was matched to the floor and then applied to bespoke height doors to provide a pull space and remove the need for handles which would have cluttered the look. The back of the island had occasional storage and an overhang so that it could be used as a breakfast bar or place to work on the laptop. We installed a cable outlet in the islands’ surface and a socket into the cabinet underneath so that computer cables could be pulled through for use and then popped back through when not needed.

Side and rear extensions The Brief

Our client wanted to increase the size of his existing property. We had space to the side of the house space above the garage and also a huge garden space at the rear. He wanted to gain a space to work a relaxing room off the garden and an extra bedroom upstairs.

The Solution

In this case the client already had architects drawings so we followed his drawings to construct the extra rooms. We built an office behind the garage that looked had double doors onto the garden making it a lovely space to work in with a deck outside for tea breaks! We extended up above the garage to create a large bedroom from the front to the back of the house and a large lean-to extension on the back of thehouse with two sets of double doors onto thegarden and some velux windows to let the light flood in. We then provided a decorating service too and even tidied and re-turfed the clients garden building a large deck and large steps down from the house.
