Basement Conversion from music studio to library & work station
This project required the following:
Remove existing interior exposing existing brickwork.
Source a Structural Engineer to carry out survey & make calculations for submission of full plans to local Building Control unit.
Fulll Plans were then submitted and approved in principle by Building Control subject to site agreement in connection with siting of vertical DPC (damp proof course).
Temporary shoring (see 1st photo) was required whilst the new structural opening was formed.
The new opening consisted of four prestressed concrete lintels with a lead cavity tray above.
The aperture was infilled with glass blocks to allow additional light to enter the basement.
The vertical DPC was completed and insulation added. The ceiling & wall surfaces were covered with dry lining and the bookcase was constructed on site and installed to allow final decorations to be carried out.
Photo 2 shows the completed project awaiting the floor finish.
