Complete house renovation and sun room extension - Builder wins FMB award
Local family firm Macoun Construction
Limited have been awarded the “Highly
Commended” award in this years
Federation of Master Builders “Master
Builder of The Year” competition.
Managing Director Richard Weir
commented, “we were able to impress
the judges because we rose to the
challenge of completing a highly
technical and energy efficient project
for a local client”.
Alan Clark, Macoun's client had
designed a complete makeover of his
detached house in North Shields using
innovative and class leading products.
In order for Macoun to install the
products it required them to invest in
training their workforce. Mr Weir
commented, "this challenge allowed us
to raise our skills and enabled us to
offer our services in this area to other
clients which has proved very
successful.
Mr Clark is delighted with the end result and now has a 12 year warranty on his
Velfac triple glazed windows. Macoun fitted high performance sliding folding doors,
environmentally friendly (FSC) cedar cladding, high performance roof coverings and a
state of the art render system to the whole house.
Barry Oliver, FMB, Northern Counties director and one of the judges, commented,
Macoun showed they were committed to providing what the customer wanted even
though it required a considerable up front investment in training of which there was
no guarantee they would easily recoup their expenses. It was a tough decision to
take in these hard times but it has paid off with this award, a delighted client and
more Velfac work around the area. The Master Builder completion was created to
recognize companies like Macoun who go that little bit further for their clients and
who demonstrate an innovative and forward thinking approach to the business.
