Maranco was established in 2002 by Martin Coughlan who graduated from the University of Ulster Jordanstown with a BSC (Hons) Degree in Building Engineering and Management in 1994.

Prior to his university studies Martin has the unique distinction of obtaining both a BTEC First Diploma and a BTEC National Diploma in Building Studies while attending Down college of Further Education.

After completing his studies Martin successfully held the position of Contracts Manager for a number of well known nationally based contractors and was responsible for many prestige multimillion contracts. This is where he learned and applied the importance of client relationships, budget and cost control and working within tight deadlines in order to deliver a project on time.

While Martin was by now a successful Contracts Managers he longed to apply the skills he gained and effectively used, to create his own construction company and deliver a unique brand of quality, trust and value for money to clients looking for the ultimate in a Building Contractor. It was with this in mind that Maranco was created.

Since the formation of Maranco in 1992 Martin has built up a portfolio of distinctive projects ranging from extensions and major renovations to one-of prestige homes for individual clients'.

Maranco's workforce, through Martin's leadership, takes pride in everything they do and as a result establish a trusting and lasting relationship with the Client. The client in return gets exactly what they wanted from the outset...a quality job.

All of Maranco's workforce are CSR trained and Maranco is also a valued member of the Federation of Master Builders, which is regarded as a mark of distinction within the construction industry.

Thank you for taking the time to allow me the oportunity of introducing Maranco.

Case Study 1

New Two Story House and Garage

Quietly nestling into its idyllic setting at the foot of the Mourne Mountains this family home designed by a local Architect makes full use of a simplistic design married with the use of stone, dashed render and natural slate finishes. The spacious interior takes advantage of views and solar gain through clever design and positioning on site. Trimmings to the interior are oak throughout.

The driveway was completed in a loose stone with carefully selected stone kerbing which was salvaged from the dwelling which formally resided there. Other uses of the salvaged stone included constructing the base to the sun lounge and the wall to the portico and was also used to great effect for constructing steps and defining edges for landscaping purposes.

Natural cleft fencing was used to allow an uninterrupted view and a feeling of openness to the site, but, where privacy was deemed important, upright sleepers are used to great advantage. An extremely high level of workmanship enabled the juxtaposition of beautiful natural materials to be shown off in the highest possible manner.

Case Study 2

Green Oak House

This eloquent house is being constructed by using a green oak frame as the main structural element for the entire building. The oak frame is jointed and constructed in exactly the same manner as was used some one hundred years ago.

The complete frame including posts, beams, rafters and trusses are left exposed to the inside of the building in order to show off the suberb workmanship and the rich pleasing aesthetic qualities of the beautiful oak which was sourced in northern France.

While the frame is constructed using the most traditional methods known to man the external envelope is constructed using modern methods of construction in order to meet with the stringent requirements of the Building Regulations.

The steep angled roof is covered with a natural slate and the south facing elevation is mainly glass clad which permits both solar gain and un-interrupted views to the exterior. The remainder of the external walls is constructed from a mixture of local stone and cedar sheeting which blends sympathetically with the building form.

A gallery located above the lounge area allows a closer view of the robust roof trusses and enables you to touch and admire the quality and finish to the oak which is avhieved by sand blasting. From this gallery you can also look down over the entire open plan living area.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being entrusted with the construction of this type of building which requires a high degree of both workmanship and coordination, but we at MARANCO pride ourselves with having the ability and comittment to delivering the more difficult builds to satisfied clients'.
