Case Study 1

Extensions & Alterations to Existing Bungalow Sheepy Magna Atherstone

This project was awarded to us following a competitve tender and was project managed and monitored by a professional firm of quantity surveyors.

The client had previous bad experience with builders and was very wary about this project.

The project involved the demolition of the existing boiler room floors and associated chimney.

A single storey extension was constructed to the rear with some major structural steel beams inserted to support the weight of the existing roof.

The existing bedroom was converted and altered to form the new ensuite shower / wet room including breaking out the existing floor to install new underground drainage.

The new floors were installed and new underfloor heating was installed in two zones one for the new bedroom and one for the ensuite both of which were sensor controlled and operated by LCD wireless programmers.

The floor screed had to be carefully laid and dried out to avoid a high moisture content as an expensive real wood floor was laid thoughout the new and existing areas.

The project also involved providing disabled access ramps through the existing double garage area and various internal alterations / reconfiguration of walls and electrical services etc.

The project was completed well within budget and two weeks ahead of schedule and this allowed for some further works to be incorporated as instructed by the client.

Extension to Form 2 New Bedrooms and Ensuite Whitacre Heath Nr Coleshill

This project involved working in and around our client who had to maintain the use of the ground floor dining room and also the main family bathroom which was to be altered in size with two new bedrooms and an ensuite added. The works involved the new first floor extension and we constructed a very complex cut timber roof as opposed to the use of trusses. The whole of the existing roof of the property was also re-tiled as the existing roof was of an older construction and had no felt and it was econimical for our client to have these works done while the main scaffold was up.The new extension was constructed within the agreed times and we also added the new porch construction and also replaced all the windows in a woodgrain upvc finish which we feel was inkeeping with the property but maintenance free for our client. The new porch was added with a feature oak detail above the main entrance door which added the finishing touches to the project. The main bedroom to the rear which was at first floor level was designed with full height glazed doors with a 'juliet' type balcony which overlooked the garden. We would like to thank our clients Richard and Mandy for thier hospitality on site and for the superb breakfasts they cooked for our lads every Friday!!! Much appreciated!!
