Have signed the TrustMark license
Have had an inspection on a job in progress on joining and on a completed development every three years thereafter
Verified no un-discharged bankruptcies or relevant and outstanding County Court Judgments
Have a minimum three year trading history and provide three years accounts
Have passed credit checks, public record and director checks

Sylvan construction is a small, family run business with a commitment to high standards of craftsmanship an attention to detail.

We enjoy a challenge and welcome the opportunity to tackle interesting or unusual projects. We build extensions, conversions and alterations, new build and various property improvement work such as driveways and entrances,patios, garden walls, garages and stables. We have also done some interesting landscape work.

We believe in sustainable building methods and energy efficiency is high on our list of priorities. We have experience of traditional timber framing, using heavy timbers and old fashioned carpentry joints to build both pleasing and extremely strong structures.

Combining the best traditional techniques with modern methods and materials allows us to give each project its own unique character.

Whatever the size or type of project,we believe high standards of craftsmanship and detailed finishing are the ingredients for success.

Case Study 1

single storey extension with hipped roof and exposed beams

This extension to a detached house in little weighton was designed to give additional living space for a growing family.

The owners wanted a light filled space with easy access onto the garden, and this was achieved by incorporating 4 velux roof windows and a triple set of folding doors.

The roof was quite complicated as it had 2 hips (3 sided shape) and 4 openings for the velux windows. The exposed beams are an integral part of the roof structure.

Insulation was well above that required by building regs and we installed underfloor heating under a concrete screed.

The new room leads off the existing dining room and provides a functional and comfortable living space which has become the most used room in the house.
