The government has announced that all employers will have to automatically enrol staff into a workplace pension scheme and make a minimum contribution into the scheme. Large employers with 250 or more staff must start from October 2012.  Companies with between 49 and 30 employees will have to start from August 2015 and those with less than 30 staff will have to start from January 2016, see www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/pensions-reform.aspx
