More asbestos work to be made notifiable

Article

A new set of Regulations for the Control of Asbestos should be issued in April 2012.  It is proposed that there should be a new category of Notifiable Non-Licensed Work, which will reduce the scope of non-licensed work and result in a broader range of work becoming notifiable.  Employers carrying out work in this category will be subject to requirements which would previously have only applied to licensed work, that is

  • Notification
  • Carrying out medical examinations every three years (as opposed to every two years for licensed work)
  • Maintenance of employee health records
