Co.Antrim apprentice scoops top industry award

Co.Antrim apprentice Philip Green from Lisburn has been named Apprentice of the Year for the Northern Ireland region in the 10th Master Builder of the Year Awards.

 

Organised by the Federation of Master Builders, the Apprentice of the Year Award is a nationwide search for the cream of the construction industry’s future talent, with a £1,000 top prize.

 

Philip Green who is self employed was chosen from hundreds of entries in the fierce competition, for his high standard of workmanship, great attitude, professionalism and dedication to his work.

 

Philip will now go through to the national final and compete against other apprentices from around the UK, and could win the coveted title of “Apprentice of the Year” at the 10th Master Builder of the Year Awards as well as a cash prize of £1,000 from the FMB. The national winner will be announced by celebrity property guru Phil Spencer who will present the coveted accolade at a luncheon on Friday March 11th 2011 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.

 

Maire Nawaz, director of FMB Northern Ireland region said  “The Apprentice of the Year Award recognises talented apprentices who have worked hard to achieve high standards of skill and craftsmanship in their chosen trade. Philip is an outstanding example of an apprentice showing commitment, dedication and determination to carve a career in this important industry, and we wish him the best of luck in the national final.

 

The 10th Master Builder of the Year Awards is organised by the Federation of Master Builders in association with Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd.  The Apprentice of the Year is sponsored by ConstructionSkills, CCATF and TradePoint Trade Building Supplies.
