This year’s Master Builder of the Year, David Charleton of FJ Charleton Building Contracts Ltd from Ballymartin, County Down today collected his prize a brand new Nissan Navara.
Over the last decade the Master Builder of the Year awards, run by the largest trade association in the UK building industry, Federation of Master Builders (FMB), have celebrated the best builders in the UK. FJ Charleton Building Contracts Ltd were announced as Master Builder of the Year by Phil Spencer of Channel 4 ‘Location, Location, Location’ at the awards ceremony in London earlier this year. This is the first time in the 10 year history of the awards that the winning builder has come from Northern Ireland. They won the award for the amazing ‘Scotts on the Rocks’ house and in doing so won a brand new Nissan Light Commercial vehicle of their choice, worth up to £20,000, provided by the principal partner of the Award, Nissan.
In creating “Scott on the Rocks” David Charleton’s was asked to build a contemporary house that could be used either as a single–storey home or opened up, using the second level, to create a larger home for entertaining family and friends. As well as this, David diverted two natural springs by the home to create a freshwater swimming pool next to the sea.
David Charleton, of FJ Charleton Building Contracts Ltd, said:

I’m so proud of my team, Scott the rocks is a lovely home and it was great working with the clients, I was so pleased when they nominated us. But to win was unbelievable. The prize of a new Nissan is superb, it will really make a difference to my working life and I can’t wait to take it for a drive!”
