The Federation of Master Builders has hailed Londons successful bid for the 2012 Olympic Games as a great opportunity for the whole construction industry to participate in the regeneration of one of the poorest areas of London.
Congratulating the bid team, Andrew Large, FMB director of external affairs, said:
"Whilst this is first and foremost an outstanding achievement for British sport, the London Olympics also represents a terrific opportunity to change the face of East London. The bid team has done an amazing job to bring the Games to London, and its down to the building industry to respond to the challenge to ensure the infrastructure is in place for a successful event."
"The regeneration will encompass a far wider range of buildings than the sports stadiam needed to host the Games. Its a much-welcome boost for the whole building industry that will capture the imagination of all, and should be used as a springboard to encourage the next generation of skilled craftsmen to join the industry."
