At a meeting of the Executive Board of the European Builders Confederation, (EBC), held in London on January 29th, 1999, Mr. Peter Backaller, OBE, (a Past National President of FMB) was unanimously elected as President of EBC. Mr. Backaller, previously President of EBC in 1993, is well known in Europe.
Mr. Backaller succeeds Ted Evans, OBE, (also an FMB Past President) who, following his appointment as President of EBC in September 1998, has decided to retire early.
The European Builders Confederation represents approximately 350,000 SMEs within the European Union and both Mr. Backaller and Mr. Evans have made major contributions to its development since it was formed in 1990.
