At its Annual General Meeting last week, the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) announced one of the best year-end results it has ever achieved, with a 54% increase in the pre-tax surplus to £374,000.
Said FMB director general, Ian Davis:
" When other trade associations are struggling with deficits, or 'black holes' in their financial positions, the surplus we've generated allows us to reinvest in improved services for members and strengthens the FMB's financial position. We are now set to build on this position of strength, with our National Council setting a target of achieving an average surplus of 5% through to 2005."
The AGM also brought a new national president for FMB, with the election of Geoff Snow to serve a two-year term. He is managing director of Snows Construction Ltd in Neath, Wales, which has been a member of the FMB since 1977. Geoff Snow has previously served as FMB regional president for Wales and has been a national Vice President since 1997, chairing FMB National Council for the past two years. Mr Snow is also an employer representative on the CITB board.
