Andrew Large has been appointed external affairs director of the Federation of Master Builders. He will be responsible for relations with Government, the EC and the European Builders' Confederation, and Government-related issues such as training and health and safety. He joined on January 7th and will succeed Brian Flint when Brian retires in May.
After gaining an honours degree in Geography from Manchester in 1991, Andrew joined the Department of the Environment as a European 'fast stream' official. He spent four years with Directorate General III of the European Commission, responsible for steel industry trade relations. In 1997 he moved to British Steel as government relations manager, before moving into a commercial role, as pricing manager, with Corus in South Wales.
He joins the FMB from BOC Group plc, where he was a business development manager in the team responsible for corporate strategy development.
