Just when you thought that Britain was littered with rogue builders along comes a competition in which the public has rushed to nominate their favourite builders. And it seems that the cream of British building workmanship has been quietly working away - restoring, converting and extending - to some of the highest standards seen by the judges from the Federation of Master Builders.
Ian Davis, the FMB's Director General said:
"Sometimes it seems that only the bad builders make the news, but now satisfied customers up and down the country have spoken up and voted for all the good builders out there and we are proud that building skill and dedicated craftsmanship is alive and well in London."
The Regional winners go on to represent the region at the national Master Builder of the Year Awards, to be held on Thursday 18 July 2002 at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton. The National winners in each category and their nominating customers will win a luxury three-day weekend break for two to be used at any De Vere four or five star hotel in the UK. The overall National winner - the Master Builder of the Year - will also win a luxury holiday worth £3,000 and the coveted Master Builder of the Year trophy.
