Around 3,000 FMB MasterBond builders are set to be the largest group of tradespeople to be recognised under TrustMark, the new customer protection initiative launched on Monday 30th January and supported by Government Minister Alun Michael.
TrustMark, a joint initiative between the building industry and consumer groups, sets Government endorsed standards for good workmanship, fair dealing and protection of consumers employing tradesmen.
The FMB, the UK's largest trade association for builders, has long been recognised as synonymous with quality building, and hundreds of customers daily use the FMB's www.findabuilder.co.uk service to take the stress out of finding honest, competent and reliable builders to work in their home.
The FMB has chosen to require stricter entry criteria for its FMB MasterBond members than the Government-endorsed standards set by TrustMark. This move ensures that FMB MasterBond builders continue to lead the way in setting standards in the industry and providing an extra level of re-assurance for consumers. The 3,000 FMB MasterBond members being brought into TrustMark not only meet the Government-endorsed standards, but additionally meet the FMB's requirement of a minimum of 3 years trading experience and the ability to offer a comprehensive 10-year insurance-backed warranty on their work.

As well as being the largest TrustMark approved scheme in England and Wales, the FMB MasterBond scheme is the only TrustMark approved scheme for general builders with members in Northern Ireland and in Scotland.
