When your business involves the removal of highly dangerous asbestos from building and marine environments, you need a reputation for high-quality of service.
And in order to reflect this commitment, you need a dependable fleet of vehicles - which is why Shield Environmental Services Limited chose the Volkswagen LT35.
Established in 1979, with headquarters in Bristol and offices throughout the UK, Shield provides a whole range of specialist services including thermal, acoustic and fire insulation. In this field Shield has gained a solid reputation based on its highly-skilled operatives and state-of-the-art equipment.
The Volkswagen LT range is available in three wheelbases, offering load volumes up to 13.4m3 as well as being able to carry a payload up to 2.5 tonnes.
The entire LT range is powered by advanced and efficient TDI diesel engines, including the potent 158 bhp 2.8 litre unit. Other features include a standard side-loading door that opens to over a metre wide, front and rear disc brakes with ABS as well as power assisted steering. The LT is also available as a double cab pick-up and a chassis cab, for maximum flexibility.
Shield's LT35s have all been specially adapted to carry equipment and asbestos waste. The operational life of each van is four years, during which time they cover more than 130,000 miles.
Phillip House, managing director and co-founder of the company, expects a lot from his company fleet.
"We aim to provide our customers with a first-class service, therefore it is essential our vans are reliable. We need a van that is powerful enough to tow our asbestos decontamination units, but still economical on fuel. The Volkswagen LT35 meets all these requirements."
