Materials Supply - 3rd Quarter 2001 The proportion of all respondents reporting delays of more than two weeks but less than two months in obtaining supplies of materials is slightly higher than in the first and second quarter surveys in 2001, with the proportion up from 9% to 11% before weighting, or from 12% to 14% when replies are weighted by size of firm. Relatively the most common concern is over the supply of joinery products, but there is also a further increase this time in the number of firms reporting difficulty in obtaining facing bricks within two weeks. There is a relatively greater rise in the number of respondents indicating delays in excess of two months, up from three in the second quarter to 11 this time. After weighting, these firms are equivalent to 5% of the total response. This increase also consists mainly of firms reporting difficulty obtaining facing bricks, whereas only one indicates delays of more than two weeks in the supply of joinery products. Adding together all firms reporting delays over two weeks, the number citing bricks is 12, equivalent to 5% of the total response after weighting, whereas for joinery the corresponding figures are 13 and a little under 5%. On this occasion there is only one region - the North of England - from which there is no report of delays in supply.
