A rise of 3 per cent was reported in the overall percentage level of member firms reporting redundancies compared to the previous quarter. The greatest level of redundancies was reported in the North West region, which has risen 16 per cent in comparison with the level recorded in the third quarter of 1997. All regions with the exception of Eastern Counties reported some redundancies this quarter, (Table 10).
