The Green Deal Road Show

The countdown is on..... The Government’s ‘Green Deal’ initiative will launch in October 2012 and will have a major impact on the building industry.

The scheme will enable homeowners to install energy efficiency measures in their homes without paying for the work up front and instead the work will be paid off through their energy bills.  As energy costs are set to continue to rise, these additional financial incentives can only help to increase the market for energy efficient home improvements.

This move to ‘greener’ buildings is expected to provide a springboard for growth which the building industry badly needs.

The FMB is taking a very proactive role in representing members’ interests by consulting with government and industry bodies so that small firms (and especially FMB members) benefit from the Green Deal market.

The Road Show will bring information on the Green Deal to members in all areas. Further information to follow when dates and locations are finalised.

Green Build

Energy Secretary, Chris Huhne MP

"The Green Deal is a massive economic job opportunity which could help Britain's economy turn the corner. With up to 100,000 green jobs up for grabs over the next five years, and even more in the long term, this is about growing our economy in a way that's good for the jobs, the environment and energy security."
