The FMB is committed to ensuring that construction work carried out on historic buildings is carried out by suitably skilled individuals.
 

The National Heritage Training Group (NHTG)

Supports traditional building skills training and professional development for the heritage sector. Includes information on bursaries and courses available across the UK. Read more at the NHTG website


Heritage Wood Occupations - Specialist Upskilling Programme

A 10 day course in the conservation and repair Of historic timber framing, carpentry and joinery involving a unique  opportunity to work and learn at Wellbrook Manor, Golden Valley, Hereford-shire, a 14th Century timber framed farmhouse. For further details please see attached (Heritage Wood Course).  Successful candidates will be eligible for a CSCS Gold Heritage Card

Grant Support:

From 1st January 2013, registered "in scope" CITB companies are eligible for grant assistance of £1,950 comprising £1,Attendance payment, £400 VQ achievement and £425 completion incentive.


(An additional 22% Supplementary payment is available for Levy payers subject to terms and conditions). Any accommodation and travel to and from the venue is the responsibility of the employer.


Course dates (WEEK 1: Tuesday 7th May to Saturday 11th May 2013/ WEEK 2: Monday 13th May to Friday 17th May 2013).

Heritage Stonemasonry Specialist Upskilling Programme

A 10 day course in the conservation and repair of historic stonework involving a unique opportunity to work and learn at Wellbrook Manor, Golden Valley,  Herefordshire, a 14th century timber framed farmhouse and 12th century Hay Castle, Powys, one of the greatest medieval defence structures still standing on the borders of England and Wales. Successful candidates will be eligible for a CSCS Gold Heritage Card.

Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB)

Technically expert pressure group which campaigns to save old buildings from decay, demolition and damage through skilled restoration and maintenance.
