At the FMB, we regularly support industry initiatives and campaigns, and we engage with other organisations across the construction industry to better support our members and the broader construction sector.

Our association partners are:

Construction Leadership Council

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) brings together representatives from across the UK construction industry supply chain to assess how the industry can leverage opportunities, overcome challenges and improve collaboration. The Construction Minister is the Co-Chair and the Council therefore acts as a direct communication channel between government and industry.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the CLC established a Task Force to respond to the issues the industry was facing. FMB Chief Executive sits on the Task Force. The CLC has four sector-specific Working Groups to help address cross-industry issues including Economic infrastructure; Housing; Domestic repair, maintenance and improvement (RMI) and, Local, social and commercial. The FMB leads the RMI working group and contributes to the housing group.

We also represent the views of members on the CLC Product Availability Group and Brexit Movement of People Working Groups.

Conflict Avoidance Pledge

The FMB has signed the Conflict Avoidance Pledge, which is arranged by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The Pledge focuses on driving behaviour change in the construction, land and property industries, to encourage supply chains to work together to avoid disputes. For further information about the scheme, see the RICS website.

The FMB is a member of the Cross-Industry Construction Apprenticeship Task Force (CCATF), which offers independent information on how to access training and funding for apprenticeships. More information and resources are available at ccatf.org.uk.

Federation of Master Decorators - Scotland

The Federation of Master Decorators (FMD) is an active branch of the FMB based in Scotland, which is comprised of members who work in the painting, decorating and plastering sectors. FMD is supported locally by FMB Scotland and aims to increase the profile of members in Scotland who operate in these sectors.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

The FMB is proud to be a supporter of The Lighthouse Club, the Construction Industry Charity, which has pledged that no construction worker and their family will ever be alone in a crisis. The charity operates the Construction Industry Helpline and app in the UK and Ireland, offering free and confidential emotional and emergency financial support to those who work in the construction industry.

The Lighthouse Club also supports construction companies by providing tools, resources and employee assistance programmes to support staff. It is trying to ensure there is a mental health champion on every construction site in the UK. However, to achieve its goals and provide free services, the charity relies on donations.
