The original client brief for Penarth builder Project One Installations was to convert the attic in a harbour-side town house so the owners could enjoy the sea view from their bed. However, after meeting and talking with the client, Project One suggested that they would make more of the view by focusing their budget on the room in which they spend the majority of their time, the kitchen.
This smart and thoughtful move has secured them the national award for best Kitchen or Bathroom Project, “Our ‘creators of lifestyle spaces’ promise means we aspire to more, which is why we suggested the kitchen transformation. We offered a money-backguarantee to the client as we were so sure that they would love the space, and we can hand-on-heart say there were no sleepless nights!” said Dorian Bowen, Creative Director at Project One.
The middle floor compromised the kitchen, lounge and hallway. The kitchen had always faced towards the street, away from harbour views. Project One removed the walls in the centre of the property to open up the space and create stunning views of the harbour from the kitchen.
Project One firmly believes that maintaining a good relationship with the home owner is paramount to the success of any project, “We worked closely with our clients Simon and Allun to create a space that suited their needs perfectly, listening to what they actually needed to enhance their living space. While we knew the clients wanted to increase their time spent with the view, the brief to convert the attic would have only given them the 20 minutes they spend in bed before decamping to the coffee machine.”
This slick, technically advanced project is enhanced with a metal splash-back customised to give flow and movement, while a theatre curtain dramatically frames the stunning sea views. Project One has designed and installed a contemporary lifestyle kitchen which maximises space and light, leaving happy clients who can now make the most of their harbour view.
