It is thought that this part of the house was built in about 1750, Unfortunately the Inglenook had lost a lot of charm when the tiled floor was fitted, and a hard render applied to the hand made brick.. After samples of render were removed the bricks were found to be too damaged by removal. We sourced some hand made local brick of the same size and replicated the original design, with the addition of a herringbone hearth... a painstaking slow job using lime mortar and traditional methods but the result is... I hope you will agree, impressive. All credit goes to Vic who did the lot.
