For this ambitious new build project, Carr & Carr were tasked by planning officials in the village of Waltham, Lincolnshire, with replicating the unique aesthetic of the village’s cottages. We had to overcome several hurdles to complete the project, such as using specialist footing due to the site's proximity to a row of poplar trees and individually cutting to size the blocks and concrete beams for the ground floor. It was worth it for the final result, however, and Lincolnshire Council were so impressed with the new properties that they were incorporated into the conservation area. The outstanding feature is the segmental design, which required our team to move out of their comfort zone and use skills that they hadn't often used before. We also added heritage sliding sash windows, specially coloured render and a traditional slate roof, which all meant that the development was in-keeping with conservation area.We are proud to say that this project was awarded best New Home at the FMB Yorkshire & Trent Master Builder Awards 2017.
