McKnight & Son undertook this extension project for a 200-year old sandstone cottage in Wreay. To allow the extension to blend in with the original structure, we used reclaimed sandstone and roofing slates. We then utilised large bi-fold doors to transition the kitchen out to an oak framed patio, providing views over Wreay Village.
Here's what our clients said about the project:
"Right from the the start of the project McKnights were part of our team. The job was delivered on time to a very high standard. They are very good to deal with, offer excellent advice, and we are delighted with the outcome."
We are pleased to say that this project was awarded best Kitchen or Bathroom Project at the FMB Northern Counties Master Builder Awards 2017. Read more about the awards here.

When McKnight & Son purchased Stanley Hall, there were 15 unoccupied flats with shop units underneath. Over six months, we converted these flats into student accommodation. There are now 26 rooms, providing an ideal environment for students to live and work in. We are very proud of the results.
The job involved: installing new shower rooms, new kitchens, energy efficient heating and lighting, a secure door entry system, on site laundry and safe bike storage. We also added a deck, giving students a nice space to sit outside. The work included the sympathetic restoration of the traditional Victorian shop frontages. The new shop fronts were manufactured in our workshop and installed by our Joinery team.

The tradesmen we had on site were bricklayers, joiners, plumbers, electricians, decorators and flooring contractors. We were able to complete the job as a one stop solution and finished within the strict timetable.
