McKnight & Son undertook this extension project for a 200-year old sandstone cottage in Wreay. To allow the extension to blend in with the original structure, we used reclaimed sandstone and roofing slates. We then utilised large bi-fold doors to transition the kitchen out to an oak framed patio, providing views over Wreay Village. Here's what our clients said about the project:"Right from the the start of the project McKnights were part of our team. The job was delivered on time to a very high standard. They are very good to deal with, offer excellent advice, and we are delighted with the outcome."We are pleased to say that this project was awarded best Kitchen or Bathroom Project at the FMB Northern Counties Master Builder Awards 2017. When McKnight & Son purchased Stanley Hall, there were 15 unoccupied flats with shop units underneath. Over six months, we converted these flats into student accommodation. There are now 26 rooms, providing an ideal environment for students to live and work in. We are very proud of the results. The job involved: installing new shower rooms, new kitchens, energy efficient heating and lighting, a secure door entry system, on site laundry and safe bike storage. We also added a deck, giving students a nice space to sit outside. The work included the sympathetic restoration of the traditional Victorian shop frontages. The new shop fronts were manufactured in our workshop and installed by our Joinery team.
As the main contractor for this project, our remit was to strip the original building down to a shell and then to create new offices, meeting rooms and staff welfare areas. The tradesmen we had on site were bricklayers, joiners, plumbers, electricians, decorators and flooring contractors. We were able to complete the job as a one stop solution and finished within the strict timetable.
Under instructions from a local architect, we performed the renovation and extension of this property near Carlisle. The project included extending the kitchen and installing a new en-suite bedroom and family bathroom. Additionally, the job included hard landscaping of the garage and garden area.
We worked in conjunction with Interior Connexions on a project for Stobart Air at London Southend Airport. We built new furniture and kitchens for the executive lounge, added new counters, and installed feature ceilings and LED lighting.
