Fire Damage Insurance Works An insured customer’s property suffered extensive damage following a house fire in September 2010. There was substantial fire damage to the rear of the property, causing damage to the roof, dormer structure, and bedrooms. The lower levels including kitchen, living room, and bathroom also needed major works. The refurbishment project began in January 2011with strip-out works being carried out while materials were sought. The strip-out included removal of all damaged roof tiles and beams, and removal of all debris from exterior and interior, including ceilings, kitchen units, doors, and skirting. Once these works were completed, the local council were consulted and we began rebuilding and securing the dormer section of the house. New windows were then installed and all external rainwater goods reinstated. Once all external works were completed and following consultation with the customer regarding finishes, the internal works could begin. A full electrical rewire took place along with the fitting of a new combination boiler. Fittings included the reconstruction of the en-suite, kitchen, and bathroom, and the construction of new stud walls and ceilings. Plasterwork was then carried out, and all floors doors and skirting refitted so the decoration work could begin. At the final stage, extensive paint work and tiling was carried out and the property cleaned and handed back to the customer. The timescale set by the insurers was met and the client was able to move back into the property on the date expected.
