This wonderful project in the prestigious Edinburgh suburb of The Grange presented us with the perfect opportunity to showcase the skill and craftsmanship of our team. Our brief was for the new property to retain the character and quality of the surrounding area, whilst also integrating modern features to provide a warm and welcoming family home. This unique home was built using the highest quality materials at our disposal. Douglas Fir Timber adorns every room and marble imported from Italy adds a wow factor. The property was created from garden ground with a 2200 tonne excavation to allow for 3 floors.
For this remodelling project, we demolished the interior of the 2 storey structure, removed the entire roof structure and installed new stainless steel trusses clad in oak. We then created a new roof and floor structure which included a staircase made from oak, stainless steel and glass, with full height glass doors below to enclose a cloakroom toilet and utility room. We also added large openings in the masonry walls and installed a large oak lift and slide door. We removed all of the existing load-bearing walls within the rear ground floor rooms to form a large and spacious kitchen/dining/family room with new French door sets leading into the new patio.
Our clients for this project had attempted to find a larger house within the school catchment area without success, and so an attic conversion seemed like the best solution. The client wanted two new bedrooms and so our contract was to construct a completely new roof that would contain not only two large bedrooms (each with en-suite), but also a large space at the top of the staircase to provide a comfortable seating/study area. Our clients were more than happy with the final results. The skills we used for this project included: Building, Plastering & Rendering, Roofing & Tiling, Joinery, Electrical, Plumbing, heating and more.
