Pointing to chimney stack.
I would like you to know that the work carried out at my property during the week of January 23/28th 2017 was done to a very high standard. The repointing and cementing in of the chimney stack has solved the issue in the loft space. There was no mess and everywhere was left clean and tidy. I have used your services in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
Construction of disabled access ramp.
To whom it may concern at the FMB, 15.2.17 Re. Disabled Access ramp at St. Mary’s Church, Moston constructed by L. Barrow & Son We were delighted with the quality of work carried out by this firm. They stuck closely to the architect’s plans which was important in order to comply with all the disability access rules and the planning permission from the local authority. They worked quickly, were always courteous, cleaned up all mess, and communicated well, if weather or another commitment was going to stop them being there the next day. They always came when they said they would. I was particularly impressed with their aftercare, returning several times to make sure everything was as it should be and sorting any snags. If I had one slight concern, it was over the strength of the hand rail which wobbled especially on the long leading edge of the ramp. Les informed me that he had followed the architects’ specification for the handrail. I believe that the architect, who has now retired, was in error here as the handrail should have been constructed into the outside wall of the ramp. Les agreed with this. This ramp has been widely used by the elderly, disabled, and parents with prams. It is very much in fitting with the existing building and has been a great benefit to the church. Yours, Rev. Matthew Calladine (vicar of St. Mary’s Church up to October 2016)
Pointing and inserting lateral restraints.
After another local builder let us down badly, I contacted Les to enquire if he could help us out, at very short notice The same day he visited our home, ascertained what was needed, and gave us a typed quote, which we accepted The following week, he and one of his workmen started the job, on the day and time he advised, and thereafter completed the job within the specified timescale It seems to me, that it is rare for some workmen, to delivery what they promise, but L Barrow and Son, did just that I would have no hesitation in using them again, and recommending them to friends, family and neighbours A job well done....by professionals Many thanks
Timber and damp proofing
The damp proof course was completed by L.Barrow & son The work was completed efficiently and following the completion of the damp course the home was plastered by the company with an excellent finish. The workers ensured that there was limited dirt to be cleaned at the end of each day. Since the work has been completed there has been no issues identified.
Dear Mr Barrow As per your request, we are pleased to provide a testimonial for the work you carried out at our property. We purchased our first house and Mr Barrow completed a up grade of an old terraced house to a property with all modern conveniences - conservatory, new kitchen, re wire and all new plaster work. We were extremely happy with all his work, he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in all the work that was done. Mr Barrow was more than happy for us to keep a retainer until we were completely happy with all the work, I have recommended him to other people and would definitely use him again.
Block paved Driveway/replaced patio/installing drain.
Dear Mr. Barrow, I write to confirm that L. Barrow and Son have carried out four jobs on our property over the past two years which are detailed as follows: July, 2015 The firm block paved our driveway alongside that of our neighbour. Sept. 2015 The firm dismantled an existing patio to the rear of the house and rebuilt it in blocks similar to the block paving used on the driveway. Steps and a hand rail were also installed as part of the patio. Part of the dividing hedge was demolished and replaced by wooden panels and concrete posts. May, 2016 The firm Installed a drain on the sloping front garden in order to adequately drain excess water during heavy downpours. July, 2016 The firm dug over a vegetable patch to the rear garden area. This involved levelling, compacting, filling with hard core, paving over with flags, cementing and creating a border with concrete edging strips. Throughout all four job descriptions, the work was carried out to a very high standard. Work was done on time and executed in a clean, careful and efficient manner. Pricing was competitive and fair. The final product reflected the customer specifications in the original plan and customer suggestions for any modifications during the building process were adhered to.
